Inside out

I've just watched a movie last Saturday and to be honest, it's a great movie. Although I'm not the type that love to spend the weekend watching movies, but for this movie, there is an exception. I'm not watching it accidentally neither I'm forced to watch it by anyone else. I am purposely go to the TGV to watch the movie as I've already attracted to it just by watching the trailer.

Have any of you ever heard about 'Inside out'? It's a movie by pixar and it's about a girl's life named Riley Andersen. This movie is not just about what Riley do but it is more about how Riley decide to do something. Inside out is all about Riley's emotions and the emotions are those who decide how Riley will react to the outside world. Since first I watched the trailer on youtube, I've already attracted to this movie as for me, this is a simple yet creative way to learn about emotions and psychology. In another words, 'Inside out' can also be called as 'Psychology for dummies'.

Riley's emotions

There are five emotions introduced in this movie and they are 'joy', 'anger', 'fear', 'disgust' and 'sadness'(for me, disgust is not an emotion but, who cares...). It's true that there are more than five emotions in our real life but to make the story flow smoothly, I think five is enough. Joy is the one that controls Riley's happiness and it is the reason why Riley can keep smiling all the time. Until the climax of the story, Joy is seemed as the protagonist of the story and also as the main emotion for Riley unlike her mother and her father. It's obvious that the main emotion for Mr. Andersen is anger while for Mrs. Andersen, it is sadness.

Inside out

While joy has always been the protagonist, most people thought sadness was the antagonist. But for me, it's not. Although in our real life, sadness has always been the opposite of happiness but in this story, sadness is the sidekick of joy. In fact in our daily life, sadness is also the sidekick of joy, not the contrary. I myself realize this after watching the movie. Yeah, it's true that sadness bring tears in our life but, if we take a deep look into it, sadness has always been the reason for others to care us more. Would anyone come to you and ask if anything was wrong if you look happy the whole day?

Joy, sadness, and memory (that shining ball represent memory)

Furthermore, as everyone knows, crying (which is the symbolic of sad) also can relieve our stress and make us more relax than before. If we are deep hurted inside but at the same time we can't crying, we might go insane. It's good to be happy the whole day, but sometimes we need to feel the sadness as it can reflect our lacks so that we can improve it next time (or we may let others such as friends and family to fix it for us).

As conclusion, for those who are not watching this movie yet, you should watch it.

"Crying helps me slow down and obsess over the weight of
life’s problems." -Sadness, Riley's emotion.
